Saas Fee, week 1

This week I headed out to Saas Fee for the British freeski camps with the GB team and the Scottish team to train in the halfpipe. I’m here for 3 weeks and so far the past week has been really good and the pipes in good condition. The weathers been really sunny and warm, with only one down day. The past few days have been quite windy so it limit what you could do in the pipe, but other than that it has been a really progressive week for me, as i improved my left fives so they are now consistent. Also I have improved my flairs and right fives. I hope to get 9’s and a solid run by the the end of the trip.

Of the slope the coaches (Pat Sharples and Neil Macgrain) have been pushing us in strength and conditioning to improve our skiing and over all fitness, plus organizing different activities for all of us which are really fun.

Training week and Brits

Not long ago i went on a training camp with the Scottish riders to Laax for a week which was followed by the Brits week. Both weeks were really fun and I learnt a lot of new tricks, we were so lucky with the weather it was pretty much blue bird everyday which was great because we could make the most of training.

We had one snowy day.

In the training week i mainly focused on training in the pipe, by the end of the week i had learnt 5’s, 7’s and 9’s and also improved on my flairs which I’ve pretty much got now. So really stoked on how it went. The Brits week didn’t go well for me as I had injured my knee in the first week, but I managed to come 2nd in my age category for halfpipe and I qualified 1st in slopestyle but fell in the finals, but came 1st in my age category. Was pretty gutted but there is always next time! Now its back home for a while :)

15 days!!

Super excited about heading out to Laax in a couple of weeks for a training camp and then competing in the Brits. I did get into the Junior World Champs but unfortunately the halfpipe event was cancelled because of the lack of snow, but still stoked to spend that time in Laax.

Stoke Jam

On Saturday night Stoke Ski Center threw a jam competition on the rails and jumps. People turned from all over country but many couldn’t attend because of the snow :( but it did make for a good night skiing! I managed to place second so really stoked :).

Lots of snow :)
